Mailing List Etiquette
Running BlogTrot, inevitably puts me on quite a few mailing lists. Some are often a little annoying, others interesting, and some, simply try to get me to buy or promote something. I’m often too lazy to go through all of the details, unless it’s something I find very interesting. I don’t feel any more important by the more mailing lists I’m on. If you’re wondering what the point is, I’m getting to it. What the hell is the need to reply all to a mailing list distribution and state ‘ remove me’. Inevitably, spamming every other person on the distro, it also makes people lemmings. You see, other morons see what people are doing, and try to get themselves removed too, by replying all. What is the need to stroke ones ego, and use the reply all button? I’m too important and not in need of this list, remove me now! And, I’m letting every other person on this list know, that it’s not good enough for me. How hard is it to simply click that unsubscribe me button? I love the folks that include their job title too, an attempt to emphasize their importance. The equivalent of a dog peeing in the snow outside of a pound gate.
‘Remove me from this distribution immediately!’ Signed Timothy, head grocery bagger.
I get mailing lists are a pain in the ass sometimes, but, seriously? Use some fucking etiquette.
