We Hart Hank
Amidst the gong show that was the NHL awards last night, something pretty special happened. Henrik Sedin became the first Canuck in history to win the hart trophy, as the most valuable player. Even more impressive was who he beat out. Sidney Crosby and Alex Ovechkin were the ones that lost out. Pat Faloon and Alex Daigle this was not. Hank playing out West was fighting the common issue of playing games when the majority of East Coast press goes to bed. He also, for most of his career has fought the perception that he is not very good without twin brother Daniel. He was able to disprove that as well, as Daniel was injured for a significant time. As a matter of fact, stats would show that if they were both healthy, Henrik would’ve finished 2nd in the Art Ross race, to Daniel. Last night just confirmed what knowledgeable hockey fans have known for a while. The Sedin twins are a great investment.
It’s a shame that such a special honor for this cities star player doesn’t get as much hype as it should.
