Playoff Drive

It’s been a while since there’s been a post about our Vancouver Canucks, but so much has happened since then. Manny Malhotra going down, Alex Edler returning likely by the last game of the season, to, of course, the Canucks winning the Presidents Trophy. There are a number of staggering statistics that accompany this team, and records. How about leading the league in Powerplay Percentage, Penalty Kill Percentage, Goals For, Goals Against? Wins? Least Losses? You’ve probably even heard of the fact that no team since the expansion era in the league led all of these categories by seasons end. I probably don’t even need to tell you that if you’ve followed the team this year, you’ve watched what is probably the best Canucks squad in its history. If you’re like me, you’re set for a lengthy run into the playoffs, and both eyes set on that shiny, silver piece of hardware. If it doesn’t happen, the letdown would be so immense, that it’d have to shake the confidence of any Canuck fan moving forward, a resounding acceptance that the regular season means nothing. The thing is that this team is the hottest headed into the playoffs too.

If you gave up an arm or a leg this past Saturday, you have a ticket to watch at least a game in the first round of this playoff run, and hopefully you’ll be watching a team that in its 40th season will make history, and will bring the Stanley Cup back to Canadian soil for the first time in more than 15 years.
