The most highly anticipated boxing match in recent memory may be in jeopardy. Manny Pacquiao and Floyd Mayweather Jr. were slated to fight within the next year, but now, have hit a snag. Manny Pacquiao has refused to comply with Olympic style drug testing as outlined by the United States Anti Doping Agency. Pacquiaos reasoning? He states that he has difficulty taking blood, and doesn’t want to be subjected to random testing a month before the fight. Could the worlds undisputed best pound for pound fighter be scared of needles? We think not.
What’s weird? He has agreed to have samples taken before the kick-off press conference and after the fight. What does Money Mayweather think of it all?
“I understand Pacquiao not liking having his blood taken, because frankly I don’t know anyone who really does,” said the undefeated Mayweather. “But in a fight of this magnitude, I think it is our responsibility
to subject ourselves to sportsmanship at the highest level. I have already agreed to the testing and it is a shame that he is not willing to do the same.
We’re hoping that the two sides find a resolution as both Pacquiao (50-3-2) and Mayweather (40-0-0) will always be dogged by
the inevitable ‘If’ debate.
