Just Another Reason…
Is it true? Has the world got another reason to hate the French? I don’t think we’re making some crazy claim when we say the people of France are not the most liked. That’s not racist is it? Not even Nationalist.
Hell, the French don’t really want you to like them, they don’t care, it’s a cultural thing. Don’t get us? Don’t want to? Well, ferme la bouche. Why are the French not liked so much? Well, there are a few things to point to. The number one reason must be that they have a reputation of a snobbish people. When you visit the country, you don’t really get a sense of welcoming, if anything, it beats you down a bit. Add that attitude to the sheer number of beautiful things they have.
There’s the Arc de Triomph, The Louvre, The Palace of Versailles, the glorified electric tower, the list goes on and on. Tourists who touch base in the country can’t help but being a bit jealous of all of this in one little country. ‘They don’t deserve it’, they say. They’re too rude, and they want to charge us 9 Euros for a glass of juice. Do not be fooled, this country is very expensive.
So the people and the cost make it difficult to visit and stay, and like.
And then, and then! Thierry Henry goes and hands a ball and gets the team into the World Cup. Don’t even get us started on why their should be some form of instant replay in this game. Soccer players in general have a reputation of being too soft, too quick to bend or break the rules. Thierry Henry takes it a step further, he hands the ball over to his teammate, they score, and they knock the Republic of Irleand out of the World Cup. All on a cheated goal. Where’s the class in this one? Henry then goes and consoles an Irish player! He consoles him! He cheats, steals victory, doesn’t deny it, then goes and consoles the victims! He’s like an apologetic thief!
How ridiculous is that?
How French?
Thierry Henry, one of the best footballers in the world, a man who could be seen as a great ambassador for the game could’ve done the right thing for the game, and for his country. Don’t get it wrong, football or soccer is a big deal, there’s a reason that the countrys governments have issued statements about this debacle. There’s a reason FIFA is scrambling hard to save face. France might have taken another hit on this one, but in the big scheme of things, the game has taken a much bigger one.
And,don’t be confused, the French National side will bomb out of the World Cup very early on. That’s a given, the side just isn’t as good as it once was, and the ‘Gods of Football’ will go against them.
