Iverson to Retire from the game, not practice, the game

Say it aint so. Allen ‘The Answer’ Iverson is reportedly retiring from the NBA after a 14 year career. Has it really been 14 years? Damn!

After a deal fell through with the New York Knicks, Iverson reportedly is hanging them up. Iverson at the age of 34, started this season with Memphis, a team that dropped him due to him complaining about playing time and warming the bench.

Injuries hampered a season with the Detroit Pistons last year, and truth be told Iverson wasn’t as golden as he was with his years spent in Philly. He’d come along way from being the top overall pick in 1996, and lead the 76ers to the NBA Finals in 2001. He was the league MVP for 2000-01, and he always was one of the best interviews in sport. He played with heart, almost like a hockey player. In a time that Vince Carter was lauded in Toronto, sitting out games with bum pinky fingers, this guy would be playing more banged up than 80 Buick.

If the reports are true, the league and sport has lost a great player.
