1992. 1st place East team Chicago Bulls, and defending NBA Champions are set to take on the 1st place West team, Portland Trailblazers. What a lot of people forget is that the Bulls faced a lot more adversity in the playoffs than the Blazers did. The Blazers went through the Lakers, and the Suns with relative ease, where as the Bulls had a very tough series with the New York Knicks, and a surprising series with the Cavaliers. This was a time when the Madhouse on Madison was known as the home of the Chicago Bulls, with Michael Jordan being the biggest reason. The Blackhawks were actually swept in their Finals by some guy called Mario, and his Penguins.
Check out this nine minute clip which will fly by, as Michael Jordan and Scottie Pippen put on an absolute clinic. Nevermind the dunks, the passes, or the fade aways, this game became known for ‘the shrug’. Jordan was not known as a 3 point shooter – at all, but that didn’t stop him from sinking 6 three pointers in the first half, and setting a record for points in the first half of a Finals game. The Bulls went on to win the game 122 – 89, and the series, 4 -2.
