Joffrey Lupul made a few headlines this week for the Maple Leafs for a good reason, as he forgot his iPhone in a cab, and went to Twitter to track it down. Lupul, known as @JLupul on twitter, suggested the hashtage #findlupulsphone as a trending topic. He gave a brief description of the taxi and driver and offered a pair of tickets for the next 5 Leaf home games, and a jersey. (The description of the cabbie? ‘the driver had a nice thick duster. Think Mike Browns mustache, but not as angry…’
Soon after the tweet went up, Lupul had located his phone. Fans had bombarded the dispatch office of the cab company, asking if someone had found a phone, the dispatcher then got in touch with the cabbie, and let him know where to drop it off.
Lupul returned to the site and tweeted “Omg. This actually worked. The search is off! It’s been located!!!! Yessss”
Upon hearing the news, Brian Burke, created a Twitter account and suggested the hastag #findtorontoahockeyteam as a trending topic.
