Everyone injured but Coach V

At this point, nothing would surprise us. If the H1N1virus isn’t enough for the Canuck players to worry about, it’s every freak injury you can think of. This team so early on in the season has been decimated by injuries, and we’re not talking about little injuries. Oh no, this isn’t Fin spraining an ankle, this is the heart and soul of our lineup being banged up.

Let’s do a little roll call.

Roberto Luongo? Every Canuck fans worst nightmare has come true. Again. Bobby Lou cracked his rib in a recent loss against the Wings and will miss at least a week. We’re hoping he takes an extra day or two to recover.

Daniel Sedin? Our leading point getter, and a consistently underrated top flight forward is gone for roughly another month or so with a broken foot.

Pavol Demitra? He’s yet to play a friggin’ game, shoulder surgery was supposed to keep him out about a month and a half, then he had a setback, so now it’s almost looking like half a season. We can only hope that this isn’t another Mats Lindgren situation.

Sami Salo? Should we be surprised? Definitely not, the glass man of Vancouver got injured again with a sprained right MCL. This guys been poked and prodded more times than a Operation game board.

Jannik Hansen? Still banged up. He’ll probably miss another month. Why? A broken right hand.

Ryan Johnson? An absolutely devastating slip, slide and crash into the boards in the Wings game has the shot blocking specialist doubtful for the next few games.

Kyle Wellwood? The little man came back this season in much better shape, an absolute pillar of a man. He’s like Banya, he’s huge. He’s out with a broken toe.

Rick Rypien? Yes, he’s challenging Salo’s title for most often injured. With Rypien’s groin being the issues this time around.

Did we miss anyone? Is there anyone left? These injuries combined with a couple of under achieving forwards, a disappearing act for a fourth line at the moment, we need band aids, lots of them.
