ChiTown Embracing the Playoffs

The Blackhawks may be hated around the Westcoast, but in the city they call home, they seem to be widely embraced. Sure, the team is in the Stanley Cup finals for the first time since disco music was introduced, you take a look at the people of the city and the city itself, and you almost forget they have the Bulls, Bears, Cubs, and White Sox. Check out these photos showing Daley Plaza fountain that was converted into a fountain of ‘red’ in honor of the Hawks, and a massive lion, a Picasso public piece, and probably the most famous Chicago athlete of all time.

Now, dinosaurs, fountains, and lions are one thing, many though, are calling bullshit on the MJ statue being draped in Blackhawks gear. We’ve heard from plenty that many tourists in ChiTown are likely wanting to see the statue, what do they say when they show up and it’s in a Toews jersey? Not the easiest pill to swallow. The biggest question is how long will it take for Jordan to have the Reebok skates removed? After all this is the son of Nike, the same guy who had the Hawks cover up the Reebok logo on his honorary Blackhawks jersey, the same guy that taped over his tv commercial jersey’s non-Nike logos. He draped a flag over the Reebok logo on the Olympic medal stand. It seems no matter how hard Reebok or Adidas tried, they simply can’t get anywhere near this guys feet. Until this statue.jordan
