British filmmaker Danny Cooke is the first to film the city of Chernobyl from the sky, by attaching a camera to a drone. Chernobyl, is of course, the site of one of the biggest nuclear disasters in history. The city has been mostly left untouched since a nuclear power plant exploded in 1986, that killed 35 people, although it’s said that some ‘tourists’ have visited the area.
The drone shows a scene of desolation, and vegetation slowly taking over decrepit buildings. It’s akin to The Walking Dead’s version of Atlanta. The video Cooke created is called ‘Postcards from Pripyat’, a city nearby the site. Crews are also working in a nearby town behind a giant concrete wall, building a steel structure that can be placed around the power plant.
