Man on the Moon was the Andy Kaufman story that starred Jim Carrey, it was said to be a role that Carrey put an immense amount of preparation in for. Directed by Milos Forman, it was primed to become a hit, but it didn’t. It was almost as if the world wasn’t ready for serious Jim Carrey, because while there were funny bits in the movie, it was more of a drama, and a fantastic one at that. The movie didn’t fare exceptionally well commercially, but was a critical hit, and won Carrey a Golden Globe for his performance.
The movies soundtrack was done by REM, and featured the song that the movie got its name from, and while ‘Man on the Moon’ wasn’t the biggest hit, that was ‘The Great Beyond’, it’s still a terrific song, that upon listening to it, will be stuck in your head all day. You’re welcome.
