Nurse accidentaly shaves Sikh man’s beard

An elderly Sikh man had his beard shaved off a few weeks before he died at a care facility in New Westminster. Now, we weren’t originally going to post on this one, but the reaction this has been getting, is staggering. We’ve gotten all sorts of emails and seen all sorts of comments, including that his beard had a bunch of basements in it, and now they have to find new basements. That’s kinda funny. Some other comments were that he should just go back to his own country if he wanted to practice his beliefs. Well, too late for that, he kinda died. Another was that this nurse should be fired, as well as the head of the Fraser Health Authority. Right, we’ll get right on that.

Seriously? To all of the people that make the comments about this is Canada, go home, and just crazy broad ass comments in general. Pick up a book. Read it. It’s not anyone’s fault you’re loser, and likely have no life, with no real job, or future. And, if you’re in a position of power or you’re enjoying life, and you still have these views? Well, best of luck to you, and we hope you fall in that aging baby boomer category.

To the folks that are calling for this lady’s head. Let’s calm down people. Yes, it was a mistake, a big one for what was likely a very religious individual. But, we highly doubt there was any malice involved here. She shaved his beard, wasted a little bit of her time, and, you never know, maybe this old dude was telling her, ‘just shave it off’. They’re old, they go a bit loopy, sometimes
they grab mallets and fend off Eastside junkies.

We don’t even think there’s a super crazy need for training, realistically if you live in the Lower Mainland, you should know a lot of these things already. All it takes is a memo being sent out, put up on the bulletin boards, and being sure on a patients file what should not be done. Everyone needs to calm down, it’s an unfortunate incident, that has made unfortunate people say unfortunate things.
