UFC 115 – Vancouver
The very first UFC even has come and gone in this city, and unlike what many critics and media folk were saying, the city has not been burned to the ground by Ed Hardy/Affliction wearing nobodies. It seemed to be good news all around, as a matter of fact, the event was the fastest sellout in UFC history, and even though the card was seriously underwhelming, the fights were pretty good. A standout had to have been local boys Rory Macdonalds, the last time I saw a double flying kick, I was button mashing on a Sega Genesis. The ‘non surprise’ of the night has to go to the main event, with Chuck Liddell and Rich Franklin. The fight didn’t even get out of the first round. You gotta wonder if it’s Dana White that twists the Icemans arm every couple of PPV’s to get one last fight out of him. Because, every few months, Chuck is touted as being healthier than ever, and a 100% focused. Hell, this time around, Joe Rogan actually said that Liddel hadn’t had a drop to drink in 9 months.
What?!
And, after these fights, as Liddell lays on the mat, and you hear that familiar, ‘and it’s all over…’. You hear soon after, ‘you’d imagine that this is the last time we see the Iceman in the octagon’. For everyone’s sake, especially Liddell’s you’d hope so.
Here’s a little ‘in crowd scrapping’…
