The Times of India Film Awards will debut in Vancouver this April, another major event to take place in this city. TOIFA has been likened to the Golden Globes and is expected to draw some considerable star power. Highlighting the best of Bollywood and Indian cinema, the Toifa’s will be much more than a one night show.
The announcement was made in joint by Premier Christy Clark and Bollywood super director, Karan Johar. Why the provincial presence? Well, it’s a considerable investment, but, one which will return a huge reward for the city. In Macau a couple of years ago, covering the Paarivaar awards, it’s pretty evident that the host city is just as much a star as the performers. The level of press Bollywood events receive worldwide, and the level of attention fans pay, these awards should be the perfect postcard for Tourism BC.
The event kicks off on the 4th of April with the press conference, media briefings and a musical extravaganza at Pacific Colliseum.
The following day will be a film festival throughout the city,a nominations gala, as well as the technical awards. The main awards will take place in front of thousands in BC Place. Expected to be present are stars Ranbir Kapoor, Katrina Kaif, and Shah Rukh Khan. Should make for a fun weekend!
