Retro Cool

Retro is alive and well. If all these television shows focused on finding little pieces of the past and history haven’t convinced you, maybe the next few points will. Sure, retro inspired creations have been around before American Pickers, or Pawn Stars or Auction Wars, but the entertainment industry seems to be returning to its ‘roots’ a lot more too.

Captain Planet, the mullet sporting superhero, that even kids found a little corny, is getting the live action film treatment. Creators cite the environmentalists message being even more important today than it was 15 odd years ago. Back then, Captain Planet and his team of Planeteers would crusade the earth fighting those out to hurt Mother Nature, and would win easily having an absolute insane amount of powers and weapons at their disposal. It may sound crazy, but this guy probably could’ve beat Superman. What’s one cool, intriguing feature for those kids who are now grown up? One of Captain Planet’s biggest enemies was Duke Nukem.

That’s not enough to convince you? Well, remember when the absolute evilest thing on TV was two dummies who spoke slang, and rocked out to heavy metal? Remember Beavis and Butthead? That’s right, those two guys who probably inspired King of the Hill, Family Guy, and any other adult cartoon worth watching are back. Mike Judge made that announcement at ComicCon. The two still rock their AC/DC and Metallica t shirts, but have also been watching UFC, Jersey Shore, and other shows that litter a TV wasteland.

Also, announced at Comic Con was that Steven Spielberg was in talks to release Jurassic Park 4, that a story was already set, and the currently working on a script.

It doesn’t end there! This crusade of early 90′s also reveals that the next Mortal Kombat will feature none other, than everyone’s favorite horror villain, Freddy Krueger. Why? Why the hell not?
