Have Vampire. Will Travel.

Hot Damn. It’s funny everyone calls Bollywood, and British Cinema unoriginal or at times uninspired. How about Hollywood? You see television and movies jump all over a trend, and then milk it for all it’s worth. Today’s trend? Easy. Vampires.

From the crazy idea of Vegetarian Vampires in Twilight, to Southern belles in True Blood, vampires seem to be popping up everywhere. There’s also The Vampire Diaries which are coming up on television. We’re not sure if you can link it as far back as the success of the Blade series, but there’s definitely been an increase. Unfortunately, the majority of folks who are hopping all over this genre, have probably never seen Interview with a Vampire or even, Bram Stoker’s Dracula. There’s been Angel on TV, the upcoming Japanese film, Blood, there’s also spoofs of the genre, Lesbian Vampire Killers, Vampires of bloody Island, then there are other movies of varying levels of budget, Thirst, Against the Dark, and The Vampire’s Assistant. All dropping or dropped this year.

I don’t know how many times the words, ‘It’s like Dracula meets…or It’s like the Twilight….It’s a real vampire movie’ have been uttered in offices around Hollywood and Hollywood North. All we’re asking for is a little originality.

  1. Lost Boys… best ever. This Twilight shit is too much. It’s going to make my head explode. People have just got to get over it already.

You’re right Lost Boys is pretty classic, with all that’s going on it wouldn’t surprise me if they did a remake! which would suck.

In all honesty, I’m kind of a Twilight fan ;)

It’s easy to see why Hollywood is favouring the vamps lately…….. MONEY! Honestly, anything that touches Twilight is gold.

The whole reason True Blood became popular was because of its Twilight following.

    It’s sad.

    But true :(
