It’s another ‘3 Song Saturday’, get a little new music in your life. Enjoy.
Divine Fits – Would That Not Be Nice
The Divine Fits is what you’d consider a supergroup, kinda. It’s the combination of bands Spoon, and Wolf Parade. Two solid Indie bands, Britt Daniel of ex-Spoon, takes on the role of lead songwriter for the group. The band’s label Merge Records, also houses Arcade Fire, Buzzcocks, and M. Ward. Not terrible company eh? The track featured below has a retro feel to it, but with a lot more raw.
The Neighbourhood – Sweater Weather
In the first few seconds, you may think you’ve heard Sweater Weather before, but the track builds, and the vocals seriously carry this one home, and make it original. It’s a hip hop infused, melodic pop song. Their single, ‘Let it Go’ may be better known, but this song just seems like the perfect beers and patio weather tune. The band behind the track is ‘The Neighbourhood’, and despite the spelling of their name, are from California, and are a quintet, led by one Jesse Rutherford. The rest is kind of a mystery, as that’s part of the bands shtick. The music kind of speaks for itself though.
Pickwick – Hacienda Motel
Hacienda Motel is what you’d consider a little bit of an older song by now. and it is a couple of years old, that doesn’t mean you can’t let it play in the background. It’s by Pickwick, and is featured on their album, ‘Can’t Talk Medicine’. They’re actually coming to Vancouver, more specifically, The Rickshaw Theatre in support of that album. If you’ve got a $20 bill you wanna burn, you may want to circle April 12th on your calendar. Check out this great video from SXSW 2012. Enjoy
