Plain White T’s – Rhythm of Love

Plain White T’s had a massive hit a couple of years ago with, ‘Hey There, Delilah’. Well, they’re back, and while I didn’t mind Delilah back then, and even now, it’s always nice to see a band come back with their next single as something completely different. And, that’s just what the group has done with ‘Rhythm of Love’, a track, that still keeps its softness, but is likely set for a ton of radio airplay. It’s a shame that this track is only turning up near the end of summer, unless I’ve completely missed the boat and it dropped a few months back, also, highly likely.

Cee Lo Green – Fuck You

It’s a song that’s getting a lot of attention for all the wrong reasons. Many groups are calling Cee Lo Greens’ track Fuck You, excessive and unnecessarily and gratuitously using poor language. But, you know what? Fuck You! This track is wicked, catchy as hell, with a great video to boot, it’s no wonder when we interviewed Tech N9ne last year, one of his dream collaborations was Cee Lo. Cee Lo defended the track as edgy art, and forward thinking, I say it’s just a great fucking song.

G.O.O.D FRIDAYS

All of a sudden, Thank God it’s Friday has a whole other meaning. Kanye West has announced he’ll be launching G.O.O.D FRIDAYS. (Don’t ask what the GOOD stands for). What’s Good Fridays you ask? Well, every Friday up until Christmas, Kanye will release a new single. The single might not even be by him, but maybe produced by him. He leaked his single with Beyonce, See Me Now, as well as unleashing a deadly ‘Power’ remix with Jay-Z and Swizz Beatz.

Say what you want, this guy knows how to create some excitement.

Trailer : Buried

I know, I know, another movie trailer, but there are some pretty good ones out right now, we can only hope that the movies are as good. This one is called Buried, starring Ryan Reynolds, who is probably one of the more underrated actors in Hollywood at the moment. The movie is about a guy who wakes up in a coffin six feet underground, with no idea how he got there. Think Phone Booth meets Hope in a coffin a la Days of Our Lives.

It’s a tale of two movies, one will be the one that your lady will likely to drag you out to, and the other is one, you may need to drag her out to. They also show how you can make a trailer work really well, and how you bomb out on one. I still don’t get how Hollywood can continue to fuck up movie trailers, but you watch the trailer for Katherine Heigl’s ‘Life As We Know It’, and you’ve pretty much seen the entire movie. On the other hand, Danny Boyles, ‘127 Hours’ is so much more impressive. ESPECIALLY, when you don’t even know what the movie is really about after watching the trailer. (It’s based on the true story of Aron Ralston, a mountaineer who amputated his own arm with a dull knife to free himself from a boulder)

Fantastic Fantasia No More?

Fantasia Barrino, the American idol singer that came out a few years back as being illiterate is back in the headlines. This time its over a suspected overdose, while battling with all that comes with having an affair with a married man, and there being a sex tape involved. First off, don’t even get me started on the sex tapes, what the need is for folks to film themselves not living up to expectations is beyond me. There ‘aint no makeup, edit studio, or lighting effects in your bedroom! Anyways back to the 23 year old mother, Fantasia, and her overdose. She apparently took a large number of Aspirins and sleeping pills with one goal in mind.

How broke must you be when you can’t even spend a little trying to kill yourself!? She was laying down to die, and was probably pissed when she woke up clear headed and symptom free! If you’ve gone ahead and made the decision to leave your child motherless, because you can’t keep it in your pants and out of the camera, then shit, woman, go with the good stuff! Obviously the reading problem hasn’t been solved. She’s standing in the drug store aisle, trying to read out the Aspirin label, ‘asp, asp, aspire, aspirein?, yes, I want to stop my aspire. Grabs the sleeping pill, naturally,’ sleep n kill? Wow America has everything!’

Call me an asshole, I don’t care. Just don’t call her sane.

Fame Chaser

Andy Warhol had it right all along didn’t he? Everyone seems to be striving for their 15 minutes of fame. People even try to force their personality or persona on folks. Clear examples of this are popularity of sites such as Twitter and Facebook, and the need to let strangers and common acquaintances into their lives.

How else can you explain the fact that your neighbors status is that he just had ‘the best breakfast sandwich’ ever? More importantly, who really gives a shit? The sheer number of status updates on any site are mind boggling, many of which are in the form of high school hallway bragging. Nobody cares if your girlfriend is the best thing ever, she’s on the shag behind your back. You can always judge the merit of any form of social media by the lack of socially tough or even negative messages. You never read, ‘ the lineup at this abortion clinic is brutal!’ Or ‘I’m an awful parent’.

Not that those thoughts are not normal and may likely run through ones mind in a particular scenario, but they stay to phone calls or texts or conversations. Some take the need for fame to an even higher level. Sex tapes. How else can you explain Kim Kardashian and Paris Hilton? Hell, its gotten to a point that Laurence Fishburnes daughter, Montana has thought out the benefits and actually released a sex tape. How fucked is that? She made the conscious decision to put one out based on what it did for Kim Kardashian. Lawrence Fishburne is likely best known for playing Furious Styles and Morpheus in Boyz n the Hood and the Matrix. How is it he can keep Tre from avenging Rickys death and get Neo to make the right decision, but he can’t keep his daughter out of the porn? How’s that for some irony?!

New Arcade Fire

Accept the apology by listening to the new Arcade Fire single, ‘Month of May’, from their upcoming album, ‘The Suburbs’. Can they maintain the pace from Funeral, and Arcade Fire? We’ll have to wait and see, but this track is a ripper.
